Demonstrations Policy Draft
Overview of Proposed Changes
This is a Material Change to the Current Policy. Material Changes include those that affect the university’s position, commitment, or spirit of the policy, because of changes in business principles, practices, or relevant laws and regulations.
The policy provides more clarity around expectations related to demonstrations while continuing to emphasize the university’s commitment to the protection of free expression, the freedom of assembly, and the right of lawful expression at the university. The draft includes policy requirements stipulated by the OCR in the Agreement. The changes to this policy would eliminate the need for the Disruption to University Functions Policy and Sleeping in Public Areas of University-Owned, Controlled, or Leased Property Policy. A comparison document is provided to highlight the policy elements that remain consistent or are new. Typically, a redline of the existing document is produced to show the revisions but, in this case, it is not feasible as a result of combining policies and reformatting.
The feedback period will remain open until April 18, 2025.
